It's A Wrap!

Aug 10 2009
This month's show is a don't miss episode if you're just getting started beading. In this episode, we review the basic pliers, talk about different types and sizes of wire and then demonstrate the wrapped loop. I'll show you my technique for making a great looking wrapped loop, then show you how to connect them together to make a simple bracelet. You can take this technique and run with it - make earrings, bracelets, necklaces, chain extenders and so much more using this basic knowledge. Enjoy!

Beads, Glorious Beads!

Jun 15 2009

What a fun day!  Today we filmed Episode 2 of Jewelry Junkie.  Pam is a hoot.  I hope that you'll watch her wonderful antics - and maybe you'll learn a little bit about beads too!  In the episode, we talk about the many different kinds of beads out there (we barely scrape the surface, as you can imagine!).  I then do a quick demonstration on how to make a "Friendship Necklace".  I didn't have the opportunity to mention in the show that we call it that because when I taught this in class, the students each shared beads with each other.  Students incorporated the traded beads into their necklaces - leaving with a much more meaningful project.

You can watch this episode beginning in July 2009.

What Does It All Mean?

May 11 2009

Today, we filmed our first episode, "What Does It All Mean? In other words, Getting Started".  It was a blast!  We met our crew: Sandy - the Director, Jim, Jack & Michelle on cameras and Seth, managing the station.  We bribed them all with coffee and donuts, so we think they'll come back.

In this Episode, we introduced the show - we plan to teach our viewers all about the art of jewelry.  We will show you beading projects, but also touch on metalsmithing, gemstone cutting, making glass beads, polymer clays beads - anything we can to inspire you about the art of jewelry making.

After explaining about several Tools of the Trade, Genevieve did a great demonstation on how to make a simple strung bracelet, using jeweler's wire and crimp beads.  She also showed viewers how to make a pair of earrings to match, teaching viewers how to use tools to make a simple loop to attach to earwires.  Voila!

The show will air in June 2009, so make sure to visit this site to enter our June raffle and sign up for the free newsletter.  We can't wait for you to tune in - send us your questions at info@jewelryjunkietv.com.  We'll try and incorporate them into the show.  Happy Beading!

Welcome!

Apr 08 2009

Hello Everyone!  I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know how excited I am to be hosting the show, Jewelry Junkie.  I'm Pam Healy, from Methuen, Massachusetts and I'm crazy about jewelry and beads.  Some would say I'm just crazy.  But nevermind!   I want to share my enthusiasm for beads and what to do with them with you!

I also want to introduce you to beading expert, Genevieve Martineau.  She taught me everything I know, I mean, about beading!  Each episode, Genevieve's going to share her talents with us and even teach us a special "Jewelry Junkie" project.  You'll be able to visit this website, www.jewelryjunkietv.com for more instructions.  Or visit her store, Bead Gallery Inc. in Salem, New Hampshire and she'll show you how to make it in person! How cool it that?

We'll also be bringing in jewelry artists to show us their work and tell us about their ideas and inspirations.   We can't wait to show you what's in store!

We also want to hear from you!  Send us your jewelry questions, tips or information about your creative jewelry.  We might be able to use it on the show!  You can email us at info@jewelryjunkietv.com.
